On April 3rd, Li Yun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over a special meeting on the development of the nuclear medicine industry in Mianyang, analyzing and assessing the current situation and issues of the nuclear medicine industry in the city, and arranging the next steps of work. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on building a Healthy China, earnestly implement the deployment requirements of the central and provincial governments, actively seize the opportunities for the development of nuclear medicine, focus on key areas and concentrate efforts on breakthroughs in advantageous fields, and strive to promote the high-quality development of the nuclear medicine industry, making greater contributions to the construction of a Healthy Mianyang.

The meeting pointed out that nuclear medicine is an important field of nuclear technology application, playing a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors. Mianyang, as the only science and technology city in China, has a leading technological advantage, a good industrial foundation, and broad development prospects in the development of nuclear medicine industry. It is necessary to further clarify the development ideas of the nuclear medicine industry, combine with the development strategy of nuclear medicine and the actual situation of Mianyang, identify the development direction, strengthen systematic planning, address shortcomings and weaknesses, and promote substantial breakthroughs in the development of the nuclear medicine industry.
The meeting emphasized the need to accelerate the key technological breakthroughs in nuclear medicine, leveraging the advantages of Mianyang's nuclear technology resources. It highlighted the features of radioactive pharmaceutical diagnosis and treatment, as well as new tumor radiotherapy technologies, to promote breakthroughs in "bottleneck" technologies and key core technologies, firmly grasping the initiative for innovative development. Efforts should be actively made to create Mianyang products in the field of nuclear medicine, using clinical applications as demonstrations to drive the research and production of new medical isotopes, original radiopharmaceuticals, and high-end nuclear diagnostic and treatment equipment, achieving the localization of advanced facilities and equipment, actively seizing a leading position in the industry, and bringing independent innovative products to the market as soon as possible.
It is necessary to strengthen the construction of innovative platforms in nuclear medicine, establish the nation's first specialized hospital for nuclear medicine treatment that is "advanced, comprehensive, and leading," and promote the operationalization of nuclear medicine research platforms to facilitate the integration of production, education, research, and medical practice in nuclear medicine.
