The Opening Ceremony of the 8th Cross-Strait Leizu Cultural Exchange Event Held in Yanting

On April 18th, the opening ceremony of the 8th Cross-Strait Leizu Cultural Exchange Event was held in Yanting.
The 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Vice Chairman Ma Peihua announced the opening. Hu Zhenmin, member of the 12th National Committee of the CPPCC, Deputy Director of the Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Committee, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Youth Concern Committee, Qiu Kaiming, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office, Kang Xiaoping, Advisor to the China Overseas Chinese Federation and former Vice Chairman, Gu Boping, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Yanhuang Culture Research Association, Wang Yukun, former Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, Zeng Qinghua, former Vice Chairman of the Provincial CPPCC, Huang Wentao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office Exchange Bureau, and Yang Dong, Chairman of the Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation attended. Li Yun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Liu Xiaochen, Director of the Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, and Liu Zhaoxuan, Chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Culture Sustainable Development Foundation, delivered speeches.
At around 10 o'clock in the morning, Ma Peihua announced the opening of the 8th Cross-Strait Matriarch Culture Exchange Event.
In his speech, Li Yun, on behalf of the City Committee, the City Government, and the people of Mianyang, welcomed the arrival of all the guests. He stated that as the birthplace of the Matriarch, Mianyang is a city of science and technology, industry, openness, talent, and ecology. It is currently advancing vigorously in the new journey of modernization. He sincerely invited everyone to come to Mianyang, experience the cultural charm of Mianyang, witness its development momentum, and hoped that this event could promote integration and development through cultural exchanges, striving to create a successful model of cross-strait exchange and cooperation.
Liu Xiaochen said in his speech that Chinese culture is the spiritual backbone of the Chinese nation and the shared spiritual home of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Compatriots from both sides are tracing their roots and honoring their ancestors in the hometown of the legendary figure Leizu, cherishing the past and looking to the future, jointly inheriting Chinese civilization, promoting spiritual connection among compatriots, with profound significance. Currently, Sichuan is facing multiple strategic opportunities, and we are willing to share development opportunities with our compatriots in Taiwan and work together for the development of Sichuan-Taiwan cooperation. It is hoped that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will have a vision for the future of the nation, bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times, actively promote peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations, and jointly create a bright future for both sides.
Liu Zhaoxuan stated in his address that Yanting, as an important node on the ancient Silk Road, not only plays a crucial role in the economic aspect of silk production, but also contributes significantly to promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the East and the West. The Leizu culture not only showcases the wisdom of the Chinese nation but also represents a precious cultural heritage that we share with the world. It is hoped that through joint efforts across the Taiwan Strait, Chinese culture will shine even more brilliantly on the world stage.
At the opening ceremony, Li Yufu, President of the Chinese Culture Research Association, and some overseas Chinese representatives delivered video speeches; young students from both sides of the strait presented poems. Li Nanxi, member of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, presided over the event.
Leaders of provincial departments, relevant municipal leaders, leaders of various counties (cities) and districts, heads of relevant municipal departments, well-known Taiwanese compatriots, Taiwanese business representatives, young people from Taiwan, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas, cultural and artistic circles, business circles, representatives from friendly counties and cities, as well as people from all walks of life in Yanting attended the event.
