Municipal Committee Rural Work Conference Held, Cao Lijun Attended the Meeting and Delivered a Speech

On April 3rd, the City Committee held a rural work conference, with Cao Lijun, member of the Provincial Committee and Secretary of the City Committee, attending and delivering a speech. He emphasized the need to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on rural work, earnestly implement the spirit of the Central and Provincial Committee's rural work conference, learn from and apply the experience of the "Million Project," make comprehensive efforts in promoting rural revitalization, accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and further solidify the foundation of Mianyang's modernization.

At the meeting, the spirit of the central and provincial rural work conferences was conveyed, the commendation situation of our city's "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" work in 2023 was reported to the provincial department for recognition, and the notification of the Municipal Party Committee and Government on commending the outstanding counties (cities, districts), units, townships, and villages for rural revitalization in Mianyang in 2023, as well as the notification of the Municipal Government on the assessment results of the star-rated modern agricultural park in Mianyang in 2023, were read out. Municipal leaders such as Cao Lijun and Li Yun presented awards to the advanced representatives commended. Cao Lijun pointed out in his speech that General Secretary Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to the work related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers (referred to as "san nong" in Chinese), and has made important speeches and put forward important requirements on this work many times. Especially during his inspection in Sichuan last year, he explicitly stated the need to comprehensively promote rural revitalization, giving Sichuan's "san nong" work a new mission and higher expectations for the new era. Before the Central Rural Work Conference, he issued important instructions emphasizing the promotion of Chinese-style modernization, insisting on solidifying the agricultural foundation unremittingly, and promoting comprehensive rural revitalization, providing guidance for the "san nong" work in the new era and new journey. The provincial rural work conference made systematic arrangements and deployments to accelerate the transformation from a province with a strong agricultural sector to one with a powerful agricultural sector. Cao Lijun emphasized that since last year, the entire city has deeply studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important instructions, conscientiously implemented the decision-making arrangements of the Party Central Committee, the provincial party committee, and the city party committee on promoting agricultural and rural modernization. Insisting on prioritizing the work related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, the situation of agricultural production has stabilized and improved, the achievements in poverty alleviation have been continuously consolidated, the pace of modern agricultural development has accelerated, the rural environment has been comprehensively improved, key reforms have been deepened, efforts in building livable and business-friendly beautiful rural areas have been solidly promoted, and new achievements have been made in various tasks.
Facing new situations and tasks, we must have a deeper understanding that under the background of modernization construction, agricultural and rural modernization is the foundation and support. Only by focusing on addressing the weaknesses in agriculture, rural areas, and farmers can the foundation of Mianyang's modernization construction become stronger. In the context of the economic recovery and improvement, the fundamental position of agriculture becomes more prominent.
