Mianyang News Network On November 12, under the title of Pingwu, Sichuan Province: Giant Pandas dig snow and drink Water in the Wild, China News, a column of China Media Group, reported the scene of wild pandas drinking water in the snow in Pingwu.
It is learned that the footage was discovered by rangers of the Peace Village in the Pingwu area of the Giant Panda National Park while they were sorting through infrared camera footage.
The video was shot at the same place and the giant panda was filmed drinking water three times:
The first time was on Feb. 24, when snow covered the mountains and buried the water. In order to drink water, the giant panda will lie on the snow on the whole body, with the head and PAWS constantly to the depth of the snow.
The second time, on March 17, there was no snow on the ground and the pandas went straight to the water source and drank.
The third time was on March 29, when spring returned to the earth, the footage shows the pandas were already familiar with the road, easily drinking water.
According to the rangers of the Heping village, in addition to the wild pandas, the infrared cameras also captured images of Asian Jinmu and other wild animals at different points in time.
Statistics show that since the beginning of this year, there have been dozens of public reports related to the occurrence of wild pandas in Pingwu. In Pingwu, the number of wild animals and plants has also been increasing with the continuous promotion of ecological protection. In particular, wild animals represented by giant pandas are more and more likely to appear in front of infrared cameras.
On the other hand, the umbrella protection effect brought by the protection of giant pandas is also emerging.
Jiang Shiwei, director of Pingwu Forestry and Grassland Bureau, said: "Giant pandas in Pingwu ‘umbrella guard’ more than 4,100 plants and 1,900 animals.
However, this is just a microcosm of the ecological benefits brought by the protection of giant pandas in the city.
Data show that Mianyang Giant Panda National Park distribution of land vertebrates 4 classes 29 orders 106 families 547 species, 184 families of 961 genera of bundle plants 3306 species, including the national first and second level key protection of wild animals 78 species, national first and second level key protection of wild plants 49 species... The "umbrella protection effect" brought about by the protection of giant pandas has a self-evident ecological effect on Mianyang.
