Mianyang Daily (reporter: Yang Hui and Tian Mingxia) The construction of the third batch of provincial key traffic projects of 2017 started on October 11, including 90-kilometer expressway from Guanyuan to Pingwu with a total investment of 13.2 billion yuan.

It’s known that the third batch of Sichuan provincial key traffic projects of 2017 launches 17 projects (5 plus 11 plus 1) altogether with a total investment of 150.7 billion yuan, covering 13 cities (prefectures) in five major economic zones and four major urban agglomerations. Guangyuan-Pingwu expressway is an important transverse line from the east to west of    Sichuan’s expressway network. Besides, it also serves as an interconnection tie of some expressways within national expressway network, such as Beijing-Kunming expressway, Lanzhou-Haikou expressway and Mianyang-Jiuzhaigou expressway. Guangyuan-Pingwu expressway is aimed at alleviating poverty and developing tourism and other industries. Its operation will speed up the poverty reduction of concentrated destitute areas in Qinling-Daba Mountains and help connect northeast Sichuan with some important scenic areas, including Jiuzhaigou, Wanglang and Tangjiahe.

Guangyuan-Pingwu expressway starts at Qima town connecting G75 Lanzhou-Haikou expressway and ends at Mujiashan Mountain in Pingwu county connecting Mianyang-Jiuzhaigou expressway. It will be the most convenient passageway from north China to Jiuzhaigou for it adopts the construction standard of two-way four-lane expressway with an expected speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The start of the project marks another achievement of turning Mianyang into a regional comprehensive transportation junction in west China.
