On the afternoon of October 7, the reporter didn’t see long queue waiting for ticket check in Mianyang Railway Station. The number of passengers in the waiting hall was also significantly reduced, as well as the flow of people at the vending machine and the manual ticket window. Passengers orderly and speedily purchased tickets, collected tickets and checked in. Besides, staffs and volunteers still stick to the post at every corner inside and outside the station.
According to the person in charge of Mianyang Railway Station, more trains and high-speed trains were opened during the National Day, so the transport capacity is very sufficient this year. According to statistics, during the National Day period, the railway station sent 213,962 passengers and 25,901 passengers through direct trains, an increase of 22.9% over last year's through passengers. A total of 79 passenger trains were added during the National Day to meet the demand of holiday passengers, of which 11 trains were added on October 1.
Staff in Mianyang Railway Station told our reporter that this is the first National Day after the opening of the Xi’an-Chengdu special passenger line. With the continuous operation of the EMUs and the expansion of transport capacity, the EMUs can reach many cities directly. Influenced by the Xi’an-Chengdu special passenger line, the direct passenger flow to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an and Nanjing has greatly increased this year, and short haul passenger flows are still concentrated in Guangyuan, Chengdu and Leshan.
In addition, the reporter has learned from major stations that Mianyang Bus Terminal sent about 70,000 passengers during October 1-7, an increase of 13%; 260 overtime shifts, an increase of 106%. Fule Bus Station sent about 20,000 passengers with a total of 2,000 departures, among which 7,000 passengers and 400 departures were on October 1. Pingzheng Bus Station sent about 60,000 passengers with a total of 3,411 departures, among which about 15,000 passengers and 662 shifts were on October 1. Nanhu Bus Station sent about 41,000 passengers with 2,600 departures, among which about 13,000 passengers and 532 departures were on October 1.
The person in charge of Pingzheng Bus Station told our reporter that except for the maximum number of passengers sent all day on the afternoon of September 30 and October 1, the number of passengers began to decrease significantly on October 4. During the National Day, in order to better serve the traveling passengers, the station has prepared sufficient transport capacity before the festival and arranged five staff members to help the passengers to buy and collect tickets at the self-service ticket vending machine. At the same time, a green channel is set up to provide convenience for special passengers such as the old, the weak, the sick and the disabled.
