On September 4, Vice Secretary of the Mianyang Municipal Committee and Mayor Yuanfang met with the delegation of Austria, the host country of the 7th COEX, led by Martin Algeria, Consul General of the Austrian Consulate General in Chengdu.
Yuan Fang said that the activities of the host country of Austria in the current Science and Technology Expo are a positive action to implement the consensus between President Xi Jinping and President Vander Belen on establishing the Sino Austrian friendly strategic partnership, and also an important measure to deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and Austria under the framework of "the Belt and Road Initiatives"This Expo will hold some important activities such as Austrian Science and Technology Day and Austrian-Chinese Enterprise Economic Cooperation Exchange, which will surely lay a solid foundation for enhancing mutual trust and deepening cooperation between the two sides. It is hoped that the two sides will take this Expo as an opportunity to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation, and to promote strategic cooperation in the fields of electronic information, automobiles, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, and high-end equipment manufacturing, on the other hand to support scientific research institutions and enterprises of both sides to carry out innovative cooperation and form a number of influential innovative achievements, and to strengthen economic and trade exchanges and actively build up economy trade exchange platform which can promote enterprises of both sides to expand the scale of bilateral trade and enhance the level of two-way investment also strengthen cultural exchange and establish a normal interactive exchange mechanism, besides actively promotes the establishment of friendly cities or cooperative relations between our city and Austrian cities concerned, at last make a positive demonstration for promoting local cooperation between China and Austria.

He said that Mianyang is a beautiful city, and its achievements in recent years are impressive. It also provided many important opportunities for Austrian cities to exchange and cooperate with Mianyang. He said that Mianyang is the only Science and Technology City in China and the second largest city in Sichuan Province. It has a long history, rich humanities, open and inclusive, and graceful environment. In recent years, our city has continuously strengthened cooperation and exchanges with Russian local governments. It has established friendly and cooperative urban relations with Obninsk and New Siberia, and has carried out a series of fruitful exchanges and cooperation. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and it deepening cooperation and exchanges between our city and Russia. We look forward to taking this Expo as an chance to deepen mutual trust, close contacts and cooperation, and to promote the two sides to focus on new generation of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and other fields, besides to carry out collaborative innovation and share scientific and technological achievements.
