Liu Chao, secretary of the municipal party committee, attended the meeting and made a speech. In his speech, Liu Chao affirmed the work of the CPPCC in recent years. He pointed out that the CPPCC organizations at all levels have unswervingly adhered to the leadership of the Party, consciously placed the CPPCC work under the leadership of the Party and fulfilled their duties and responsibilities. They have also promoted the development of the CPPCC cause in succession, and made important contributions to speeding up the construction of Mianyang.
Liu Chao made a request to strengthen the Party building work of the Mianyang CPPCC system in the new era. He emphasized that the cause of the CPPCC is an important part of the great social revolution led by the Party, and that the Party building in the CPPCC system is an important part of the great self-revolution of the whole Party. We should promote the new achievements in Party construction of the CPPCC system to create a new situation and organically combine Party building with the performance of its functions; we should focus on the central work of the whole city for consultation and deliberation, make suggestions around safeguarding and improving people’s livelihood; we should constantly improve democratic supervision to ensure that the central work of the CPPCC committee can be promoted wherever it is carried out and that CPPCC will follow up the CPC wherever it performs its duties, so as to guide the Party’s construction. We should lead and promote the CPPCC to perform duties, testing the quality and level of the Party’s construction work with the effectiveness of performing duties, and contributing more wisdom to the development of Mianyang in the new era.
